Solid Blog

The end of the year shows very well for the West. January should gives us some very good news. It is shaping up to be a different ballroom in the West. The sexes are pretty evenly divided up. And most are in pairs, partners of any kind. Not like in town where the ladies outnumber the men sometimes two to one.

"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again,
this time more intelligently."

I am hard of hearing, the name could be different.
In town it has bred a different kind of man dancer, that evolved from the old time Beach Boys. Referred to in Waikiki as, "Cha Cha for Cash Creeps, Dally for Dough Daddies or the Play For Pay Partners. Quite common in the Philippines under a different name.

So it seems to be a more wholesome environment in the West with the idea of everyone moving to the music of their choice. Along with it the camaraderie and socializing that you can have at a party of friends. We have a different kind of dancer here and we don't need an acre of dance floor. We just need more places with good dance floors.

The Line Dancing has a much bigger proportion of men than town. So it seems very probable that more men in the West will be convinced that they can dance well, not just dance. And Line dancing can be fun which is the name of the game. We are going to see the best dancers on this Island develop and all for fun. They seem to be particularly adept at the Latin dances. Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Samba and specially the Tango, both American and the Filipino. It looks good for an amalgamation of the best of the two. And we have some terrific tango teachers out here.

I am waiting for the first Dance Night Club in Pearl City, the most densely populated area next to Waikiki. That will tell the tale if it is done right. No excuses about Ballroom Dancers not being drunks. We already know that. They are interested in dancing not in getting stoned. Now let's get on with the work at hand.

Pub's Note: What ever happened to the topless singing trio from Las Vegas? They were to perform in Pearl City and were billed as “The Swinging Six.”
